Jai Hind...Jai Maharashtra!!!

To Adarniya Politicianjee,

Today, as all of you get ready to grab the limelight, I am typing the following questions for you (so what if none of you read my blog). I still have hopes that you would answer me someday.

Q1: Almost every local political party claims to be based on Shivaji Maharaj's ideologies. If that's true then why do these so-called followers disrespect other religions and languages (never in my history lessons was it mentioned that Shivaji Maharaj disrespected other religions and communities, on the contrary he was known for his benevolent nature)

Q2: Why is the economic condition in Maharashtra so diverse. On one hand, you have Business Tycoons like Mukesh Ambani who have money to afford a yacht and to buy an IPL franchise; while on the other hand you have the poor Vidarbha Farmers committing suicide coz they are unable to meet their daily needs.

Q3. Can I be assured that the infrastructure and the security of the city would soon improve? Will Ajmal Kasab be sentenced to death on 3rd May? Will there be less traffic?

Q4: Who is a Marathi Manoos. Do you consider a person who has stayed in Mumbai for more than 10 years, who speaks marathi, has marathi friends, eats marathi dishes, contributes to the growth of the city and adores Asha Bhosle and Madhuri Dixit as Marathi manoos or does (s)he have to be born in a Maharashtrian Family to get that revered title? Does (s)he have to be scared that some day the political parties may again start the 'Lungi Hatao, Pungi Bhajao' Andolan and may kick them out from the place that they consider as their own.

I know you have no answers to these questions. So if answering the above questions seems to be difficult, then atleast reply to what the singer has asked in this song (sorry video is pretty amateur...but could not find a better video for this song on YouTube)

Waiting for forever for your answers....

Your's Truly,

Aam Junta....

P.S: for those who did not understand the song:

The literal translation of the song is: Oh lord which of these flags should I hold. You need not understand Marathi for this, the images in the video explains the song. I had heard it 2 months back and as my friend said the lyrics reflected the thoughts of many youngsters who did not know whom to follow, when the chacha-batija duo got split and Raj Thackeray, made his own party called Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (famously known as MNS).

  4. to ur Q1,
The timeline is diff we cannot compare Shivaji to the current situation.. our population now has gone up leaps n bounds..outnumbered the available resources..so naturally ppl get xenophobic..lets draw a macro picture..If we consider that there is nothing like countries and it is a free world, the british entering India and using our resources is no crime..but we felt they exploited us (infact they looted us)..so we fighting back for our resources seemed right to us at that time..now at micro level..thats state-level..the same feeling does comes naturally..anyways I dont support regionalism..

  6. Thought provoking!! But isnt it how our country is?? Each one starts fanaticism in the name of patriotism..all for power and money!!

They say they fight for common man's rights!! Is that what the common man needs? Or a peaceful life with meals 3 times a day!!

These questions...their answers are obvious...but how does it help

  7. Hi everyone,

Thanks for your comments. The reason why I wrote this today was because we celebrated the 50th year of Maharashtra's existence today. I know the answers to my questions are pretty obvious and that I wont get any answers from the politicians. Bas I wrote out of sheer frustration and am happy that I have vented out my feelings finally :)

  10. The moment I clicked on your blog...I got confused, how come text on my blog got change! Oh then I realise... ;)

Nice post! Some serious questions. Surely no politician is going to answer those questions, even if some one happen to click on the URL.

Ideology of Shivaji and Vidarbha plight is something Maharashtra politicians have exploited very well to gain strength in the political arena. Nor can I answer your questions, but I can only hope for better and assure you that I didnt find the blog "boring" in any sense!

    ...:)

  11. ah ask me girl..like you, I am an "outsider" too in the city..so what if I pay tax, I vote, I have my name in the ration card; but my domicile still says that I am from Gujarat..

it's pathetic you know..politics ke naam pe communal fights karana..BJP and Sena are against Muslims while congress supports them..ridiculous!

  13. just another feeling of insecurity in local state parties ...everyone wants to be king of their own area (bole to apni gali me kutta bhi sher ban jata he)...they are not concerned with long term development &global prosperity...infact this happens everywhere, not only in mumbai...in this case, they are just a little bit more rude to outsiders....

(i'm really impressed, you critisized very well, yet u didn't took name of any specific political party)

for other questions, i think, apart from politicians, even we cant answer them....

  14. pani pee liya ramya bt pyaas bhuji nahi ab tak

ok hary...next time humara vote aapke naam

    Thanks AS

Thanks Karan a and bhelcome to my blog. As u said people love to exploit people in the name of Shivaji Maharaj and Marathi culture.

Neha...seriusly why this outsider feeling? Why are we treated as though we have committed a crime by belonging to some different region? My marathi friends treat me so nicely...I sometimes fear what if any of them gets influenced by these politicians and start treating us like outsiders

yes moonlite, same here waiting forever for these answers

Thanks Al Omar...and bhelcme to my blog. As u said apne gali mein toh kutte bhi sher ban jaate hain :)sab ek se ek shortsighted log hain

  15. "Lungi hatao, Pungi Bhajao" slogan acha hai... liked it.

Questions ke answers to nahi hai... But you can have them answered. Apne local MP ko thode paise khilao aur wo parliament mein pooch lega. TV pe aaya tha, try kar lo :)
